More, more, more...Number Four

'Making Connections', the workshop that was held right here at the TIG Toronto office was a huge success. Thanks to those of you who came and made it such an inspiring event. Stay tuned for a local youth network and for the completion of my diary which will give you some tips on setting up your own workshop...
Onto my weekend. Friday night was an interesting party in Mississauga with my best friend Erin, then Saturday night a party at Kelly's and finally Sunday...running 10km with my best friend Steph. My bones are popping out of my knees just in case anyone wanted to know. As some of you may have noticed, I like quotes. So what was running through my head as I was running around in circles? "Winning can be defined as the science of being totally prepared. I define preparation in three words: leave nothing undone." ---Anonymous
Chris-I miss you buddy. "Make those you meet feel like an angel has kissed them, and leave behind gentle memories when you go."-- Lynn Ray 28-07-99

Three Times a Charm

July 25, 2001...the day of 'Making Connections'. It's a workshop that I'm facilitating here at the TIG office. Organizations from across Toronto are meeting to discuss how we can improve our efforts, share our ideas and collaborate. To tell you the simple truth, I'm quite nervous, but hopefully it'll run smoothly. Stay tuned for the completion of my diary entries which will describe the entire process of the workshop!
On another note, my training continues. I haven't been doing a great job with the running, but I've been lifting weights and going to STEP class with one of my best friends Steph! I'm trying to stick to my healthy food diet, but it's getting harder and harder! Here's another quote to keep me motivated. It was said by one of the greatest coaches of all time..."The real glory is being knocked to your knees and then coming back. That's real glory. That's the essence of it." -- Vince Lombardi (and here's a picture of him)
p.s. To BresLAND and V- Shle/Shley/Shuley is real and can't wait to meet you! Rice is good...mmm

The 5 W's

I have decided to facilitate a workshop. Naturally, the first questions that I had to ask myself were WHO? WHAT?WHY? WHERE? WHEN?

Well, I realized that there are many youth organizations based here in the Greater Toronto area that are trying to provide a service for youth. After talking with some TIG members, I have decided that I'll facilitate a workshop focused on connecting like-minded youth organizations and discuss how we can work together and collaborate our efforts. My next task was to determine a name for the workshop. I knew that it had to be catchy and instantly interest people. I thought about what the purpose of the workshop will be, to meet people and make connections. Thus, 'Making Connections' became the name for the workshop. Then I had to select a date. I've learned through the experience of others that it's important to allow for adequate planning time. I don't want to rush this workshop, so I set the date just over a month away, July 25 at 6.30. For location, I chose the TakingItGlobal office downtown, 80 Bloor Street West, 8th Floor. The reason that I chose this site is because it's directly above Bay Station and will be easy for people to travel to.

Now that I have my basic questions answered, I'm going to apply to the Workshop Kit, and if everything is in order, I'll be approved in no time!

Big Number Two

After our little meeting yesterday, my workshop has more direction, much much more direction. Today I've been looking for some more organizations so hopefully I'll get a good response from them. Let's see what else...I talked to a friend who I haven't talked to in a long time on the phone. I had a good workout this morning because there weren't any big scary men laughing at me when I couldn't lift the heavy weights. But eating all that rice is getting harder and harder everyday so now my quote of the day is going to be more inspiring to me. Here is it...
"I hated every minute of the training, but I said, don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion."
--- Muhammad Ali (Here's a picture of him)
That should inspire me for another day!
Later Darth Vadar.

My FiRsT uPdAtE

Wow, everyone should be so impressed that it has only taken me a month to learn how to use the updates. Actually that's a lie, Jen had to show me.
So anyways, I don't have too much to say today. I'm working on my workshop which will hopefully be better than that horrible event that Breslin and I attended last Wednesday, and I'm also adding organizations to the database. I wonder what this is going to look like...ok I'm going to check. Byebye alligator pie.
Here is my quote for the day "Dream as if you'll live forever, Live as if you'll die today."-- James Dean
